Born in 1977, award-winning film composer Arnau Bataller has worked with prestigious Spanish directors such as Fernando León de Aranoa, Jaume Balagueró, Pau Freixas, Mariano Barroso among others while scoring a wide range of projects ranging from big budget horror/fantastic features to more independent dramatic TV shows.

Always trying to chose the best musical colour to the picture, Bataller always works with Marc Blanes, one of the most sought after engineers in Spain, assuring in this way the highest quality in his music.  Indeed, he has recorded with most of the Film music orchestras in Europe, being the first ever to record a film score with The Symphony Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona’s Opera House. He also loves to use new sounds, either from ethnic instruments or synthesizers, always searching for a unique sonic palette for every project he works on.

Among others, In 2012 Bataller won the International Film Music Critics Association for best music for TV for his TV historical miniseries “Ermessenda” competing against the music of the TV series Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey, Doctor Who and Sherlock Holmes. In 2011 Bataller won the Spanish Film Music Critics Award as best Spanish Composer. Also was nominated as a Breakout composer of the year by the International Film Music Critics Association. In 2002 Bataller was the youngest composer of the five Spanish composers selected by Sundance’s composers Lab held in Barcelona.

Bataller graduated from the University of Southern California at Los Angeles where he studied at the prestigious Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television program recording more than 10 times at Paramount studios.
