Based on a story by Gothic horror writer Edgar Allen Poe, this is the first film by cult director Juan Lopez Moctezuma, who went on to make the underground hit ALUCARDA. A wacky journey into the realm of insanity, the Mansion is a notorious asylum where Raúl Fragonard (Claudio Brook) has locked up the director and allowed the maniacs to take over. When a journalist comes to visit in search of a story he discovers the real secret of the Mansion, but soon finds himself the defendant in an absurd trial before a jury of the insane. Filmed with a large budget, this is a hippie extravaganza that displays the exuberance of the time in its quirky, psychedelic visuals and madcap plot
