GDM Music is glad to release on CD de-luxe edition for the first absolute time by Ennio Morricone for the biopic “El Greco”, directed in 1964 by Luciano Salce and starring Mel Ferrer, Rosanna Schiaffino, Adolfo Celi and Fernando Rey. This movie in a fantasy way tells the life, loves, successes, of Kiriakos Theotokopoulus, born in Greece, but become famous in Spain as El Greco. The score by Ennio Morricone for “El Greco” (placed in the last decades of the sixteenth century) reprises the canons of the liturgical music from that period giving wide space to sacred motifs for orchestra and choir that are alternated to court music for little orchestras. Symphonic score of a young Ennio Morricone, but still strongly rich of all those music elements typical of the author’s maturity developed in the later decades. This complete CD is produced using the original stereo master tapes digitally remastered and restored.
