NONNE DER VERONA, DIE (1973)
(THE NUNS OF ST. ARCANGELO / LE MONACHE DE SAINT'ARCANGELO / INNOCENTS FROM HELL)

Director - Domenico Paolella

Very well made Nunsploitation fun from Domenico Paolella (DIARY OF A CLOISTERED NUN). Set during the 16th century in a cloister near Verona the Abbess has just passed away and a new Mother Superior must be chosen. By eliminating her closet rivals, the lesbian Mother Giulia (Anne Heywood) is 'chosen' to be the new Mother Superior.

Don Carlos (Pier Paolo Capponi), who was partially responsible for Mother Giulia's appointment, forces Mother Giulia to send her niece who has just joined the cloister, Isabella (Ornella Muti), to his estate. Meanwhile the Bishop and Cardinal being to hear some rumblings of problems within the cloister and decide to do a bit of investigation and use good ol' inquisition methods to reveal the truth.

This highly recommended Nunsploitation film also stars Martine Brochard & Luc Merenda.
